Actor Daniel Craig was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his
debut as James Bond in Casino Royale in 2006. He then went
on to portray Bond in three more films: Quantum of Solace (2008)
Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). Craig also starred in the film
Cowboys & Aliens (2012) alongside the legendary actor Harrison
Ford

HARRY BELAFONTE IS 90 TODAY

Harry Belafonte (Harold George Bellanfanti, Jr.) was born in
Harlem, New York.

Singer Harry Belafonte is known as the King of Calypso. He popularized the
calypso genre and famously sang "The Banana Boat Song."

He joined the Navy during World War II. After he was discharged, he worked
as a janitor in New York City. His boss gave him tickets to the American Negro
Theatre, which got him interested in performing.

The 1959 First Annual 500 Mile NASCAR International Sweepstakes at
Daytona (now known as the 1959 Inaugural Daytona 500) was the second
race of the 1959 NASCAR Grand National (now Monster Energy NASCAR
Cup Series
) season. It was held on February 22, 1959, in front of 41,921
spectators. It was the first race held at the 2.5-mile (4.0 kilometer) Daytona
International Speedway
. The Daytona 500 is regarded as the most important
and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar. It is also the series’ first race
of the year. With the help of photographs and newsreel footage, Lee Petty,
the father of Richard Petty, was officially declared the winner by NASCAR
founder Bill France, Sr. .

The song became one of Little Richards’ best-known hits and has
become a rock and roll standard covered by hundreds of artists,
including the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
