later became a lead singer of the group

and released his debut solo album, Never Too Much, in 1981. During his
career,
Vandross sold over 35 million records worldwide, and received
Grammy Awards including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance four different
times. He won a total of four Grammy Awards in
2004 including the Grammy
Award for
Song of the Year
for a song recorded not long before his death,
"
Dance with My Father”.
