AMERICA’S COMEDY QUEEN ON THE RADIO
Joan Davis originally appeared on the Rudy Vallee Show in 1941, and quickly
became a regular. When Vallee left his show in 1943 to join the Coast Guard,
Davis took over with great success until 1945 when she left to do Joanie’s
Tea Room on CBS radio (1945 – 1947).
BERNADETTE PETERS TURNED 65 TODAY
Bernadette Peters (Bernadette Lazzara) started in show business at
the age of 3, when her mother put her on the television show Juvenile
Jury. She has since starred in musical theatre, films and television, as
well as performing in solo concerts and recordings.
HOWARD HESSEMAN IS 73 TODAY
Howard Hesseman is best known for playing DJ Johnny Fever on the CBS
television series WKRP in Cincinnati (1978-1982). Hesseman was born in
Lebanon, Oregon. He attended the University of Oregon, and was later
a founding member of the San Francisco–based improvisational comedy
troupe The Committee.
