William James "Count" Basie (August 21, 1904 – April 26, 1984)
Meet the Beatles! is the second Beatles album released in the United States. It
was the first US Beatles album to be issued by Capitol Records in both mono
and stereo formats. It topped the popular album chart on 15 February 1964
and remained at number one for eleven weeks before being replaced by The
Beatles’ Second Album.
The television debut of “The Original Amateur Hour” came on January
18, 1948 over the DuMont Network with Ted Mack as the host. The show
was on the air for 22 years.
The radio program House Party debuted in 1947 and continued
until October 13, 1967. It offered audience participation with a
wide variety of content, from household hints to quizzes and
celebrity visits. Sponsors included Pillsbury and Lever Brothers.
