The Campbell Soup Company was started in 1869 by Joseph A. Campbell, a fruit merchant from Bridgeton, New Jersey, and
Abraham Anderson, an icebox manufacturer from South Jersey.

They produced canned tomatoes, vegetables, jellies, soups,
condiments, and minced meats.

Dr. John T. Dorrance, Arthur’s nephew, invented the process
of condensing soup. He became president of the company
until his death in 1930.

The company wins a bronze medal for product excellence at the
Paris Exposition. The medallion is added to the can label where
it still appears to this day.

(Fox News) – The pancake brand’s parent company, PepsiCo, Inc., announced it is rebranding Aunt Jemima to Pearl Milling Company.

In a press release issued Tuesday, the food and beverage giant
revealed the line of pancake mix and syrup will maintain its
signature red color alongside the new brand name and logo,
but it will have no reference to the Aunt Jemima brand. The
brand will be retired “to make progress toward racial equality.”

Pearl Milling Company will begin appearing on products and
promotional materials in June 2021.

The Aunt Jemima pancake mix was advertised in 1889 as the
first ready-mix. By 1915 it had become one of the most recognized
brands in US history, and changed US trademark law.

Nancy Green portrayed Aunt Jemima at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, one of the first Black corporate models in
the United States. Subsequent advertising agencies hired dozens
of actors to perform the role as the first organized sales promotion campaign.

On June 26, 1948, U.S. and British pilots begin delivering food and
supplies by airplane to Berlin after the city is isolated by a Soviet
Union blockade.

When World War II ended in 1945, defeated Germany was divided into Soviet, American, British and French zones of occupation. The city of Berlin, though located within the Soviet zone of occupation, was also split into four sectors,
with the Allies taking the western part of the city and the Soviets the eastern.

In June 1948, Josef Stalin’s government attempted to consolidate control of
the city by cutting off all land and sea routes to West Berlin in order to
pressure the Allies to evacuate. As a result, beginning on June 24 the
western section of Berlin and its 2 million people were deprived of food,
heating fuel and other crucial supplies.

(FoxNews) – An odd piece of artwork that consists of a banana duct-taped to
a wall has sold for $120,000 at a Miami art fair. The piece, titled "The
Comedian," was created by Italian artist  Maurizio Cattelan.

Two of the three editions of the banana artwork sold for $120,000 at the Art
Basel Miami festival and a third is expected to fetch $150,000.

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan is known for his satirical
sculptures.
