Rosalind P. Walter (Palmer) (June 25, 1924 – March 4, 2020)

(FoxNews) – Rosalind P. Walter, also known as "Rosie the Riveter,"
died Wednesday at the age of 95 in New York City.

During World War II, Walter, affectionately called "Roz" by friends,
worked the night shift driving rivets into the metal bodies of Corsair
fighter planes at a plant in Connecticut, a job previously reserved for
men.

According to The New York Times, a newspaper column about her
inspired a morale-boosting 1942 song that turned her into the
legendary Rosie the Riveter.

COIN FROM FLEA MARKET HAS BIG WORTH

(Credit: Professional Coin Grading Services)

(FoxNews) – A rare 1776 Continental dollar that was bought at a French flea
market for less than $1 is worth nearly $100,000.

The coin was purchased by a person who has remained anonymous to this
point for 56 cents in June 2018, according to a
statement from Professional
Coin Grading Services (PCGS), which graded the coin.

"The seller had a cookie box full of coins and medals for sale and, while the
buyer was looking through it, the seller pulled out another box of coins with
this coin on top," PCGS wrote in the statement. "The buyer unfamiliar with
this piece asked a price, and the seller said 50 [Euro] cents. The coin was purchased, and the new owner later Googled ‘Continental Currency’ and
‘1776’ to discover what he had. Believing he had found a treasure, he took
it to a local coin dealer for authenticity, who was unsure and suggested he
send it to the United States for authentication."

HIS TIME WAS SERVED ON THIS DAY IN 1949

Post image
Actor Robert Mitchum, center right, and actress Lila Leeds, left, are sentenced to 60 days in jail on charges of conspiracy to possess marijuana cigarettes in Los Angeles, February 9, 1949.

Actor Robert Mitchum was released from a Los Angeles County prison farm
after spending the final week of his two-month sentence for
marijuana
possession there.

In the fall of 1948, Mitchum, the star of classics such as Cape Fear and Night
of the Hunter,
was smoking a joint at a small party in the Laurel Canyon area
of Los Angeles when detectives burst in and arrested him. Mitchum reportedly
said at the time,
“Well, this is the bitter end of everything—my career, my
marriage, everything.” In fact, it wasn’t really that bad. Mitchum was separated
from his wife Dorothy at the time, but the two reconciled when she returned to
support him through the scandal and the public didn’t mind much either;
Rachel and the Stranger, the first movie released after his troubles,
was a box-office hit.
