Henry Jaynes Fonda (May 16, 1905 – August 12, 1982)

Henry Fonda had a career that spanned five decades on
Broadway and in Hollywood. Fonda cultivated a strong,
appealing screen image in several films now considered
to be classics.

Fonda made his mark early as a Broadway actor and made
his Hollywood film debut in 1935. He rose to film stardom
with performances in such films as; Jezebel (1938), Jesse
James
(1939), and Young Mr. Lincoln (1939). His career
further progressed with his portrayal of
Tom Joad in The
Grapes of Wrath
(1940), receiving a nomination for the
Academy Award for Best Actor.

SINGER STEVIE WONDER IS 72 TODAY

Blind since shortly after his birth, Stevie Wonder was a child
prodigy
who signed with Motown‘s Tamla label at the age of
11, where he was given the professional name Little Stevie
Wonder. In 1963, the single
"
Fingertips" was a number-one
hit on the
Billboard Hot 100 when Wonder was 13, making
him the
youngest artist ever to top the chart.

COUNTRY SINGER HAS DIED AT 86

Mickey Leroy Gilley (March 9, 1936 – May 7, 2022)

(CBS) – Country star Mickey Gilley, whose namesake Texas
honky-tonk inspired the 1980 film "Urban Cowboy" and a
nationwide wave of Western-themed nightspots, has died.

Gilley died Saturday in Branson, Missouri, where he helped
run the Mickey Gilley Grand Shanghai Theatre. He had been
performing as recently as last month, but was in failing health
over the past week. His death was announced by Jeff Wagner,
mayor of Pasadena, Texas.

are some of the names by which the world would eventually know
James Joseph Brown, Jr., the revolutionary musical figure who was
born on May 3, 1933. The story Brown himself would often tell is
that he appeared stillborn when he first came into the world, but
that an aunt attending his birth managed to breathe life into him.
