FORMER BASEBALL PLAYER IS 80 TODAY


Sanford "Sandy" Koufax (born Sanford Braun in Brooklyn, New York)

Legendary Dodgers left-hander Sandy Koufax pitched a perfect game on the 9th
of September in 1965 and became the first MLB pitcher to throw 4 career no-
hitters. He won 4 World Series Championships, 3 Cy Young Awards, 3 Triple
Crown Awards and the 1963 NL MVP Award during his 12 years with the Dodgers,
from 1955 to 1966. Koufax, at age 36 in 1972, became the youngest player ever inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

GLOBETROTTER DIES AT 83


Meadow George “Meadowlark” Lemon III

(April 25, 1932 – December 27, 2015)

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Meadowlark Lemon, the “clown prince” of basketball’s barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters, whose blend of hook shots and humor brought
joy to millions of fans around the world, has died.

Lemon’s wife and daughter confirmed to the team that he died Sunday in Scottsdale, Arizona, Globetrotters spokesman Brett Meister said Monday. Meister did not know
the cause of death.

‘’HENDU’’ HAS DIED AT 57


David Lee Henderson (July 21, 1958 – December 27, 2015)

(AP) – Former major league outfielder Dave Henderson, who hit one of the most
famous home runs in postseason history, died Sunday after suffering a massive
heart attack.

Henderson died early Sunday morning at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a statement from the Mariners, one of five teams Henderson played
for in his career. Henderson underwent a kidney transplant in late October.

Henderson was best known for his home run in the 1986 AL Championship
Series for Boston.
