A PART OF EVENING TV IN THE 1980s

The TV comedy/drama series The Greatest American Hero aired for
three seasons from March 18, 1981 to February 3, 1983 on ABC. It
starred William Katt (center) as teacher Ralph Hinkley ("Hanley" for the 
the latter part of the first season), Robert Culp as FBI Agent Bill Maxwell  
and Connie Selleca as lawyer Pam Davidson. The TV show chronicles  
Ralph’s adventures after he is given a red suit by a group of aliens,
which gives him superhuman abilities, often with comical results.

Pat Boone was a successful pop singer during the 1950s and early 1960s. He
sold over 45 million albums, had 38 Top 40 hits and appeared in more than 12
Hollywood movies. Boone’s talent as a singer and actor, combined with his family
values, contributed to his popularity in the early rock and roll era. According to
Billboard, Boone was the second biggest charting artist of the late 1950s, behind
only Elvis Presley but ahead of Ricky Nelson and The Platters. He was ranked at
No. 9 in its listing of the Top 100 40 Artists 1955-1995. Pat holds the Billboard
record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with more than one
song. He continues to perform, and speak as a motivational speaker, a TV
personality, conservative political commentator and a preacher.

Morgan Freeman actor, film director and narrator, has received Academy
Award nominations for his performance in Street Smart (1987), Driving Miss
Daisy
(1989), The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and Clint Eastwood’s Million
Dollar Baby (2004). Freeman has appeared in many other hit films, including
Unforgiven (1992), Seven (1995), Deep Impact (1998) and the Batman film
 The Dark Knight (2008). Morgan Freeman has been the announcer for the
CBS Evening News since 2010.
