NEWS SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN1978

20/20 is a "television newsmagazine", broadcast on ABC since June 6, 1978. Created
by ABC News executive Roone Arledge, the show was designed similarly to CBS’s 60 Minutes but focuses more on human interest stories than international and political subjects. The show’s anchors on the premiere telecast were Robert Hughes,editor
of Esquire magazine who also served as senior producer and Time magazine art
critic Robert Hughes (both shown below).

CHRYSLER, FOUNDED ON THIS DATE IN 1925

Chrysler Corporation was founded by Walter Percy Chrysler (above) after
re-organizing the  Maxwell Motor Company.  Chrysler arrived at the ailing
motor company in the early 1920s. He was hired to overhaul the company’s
troubled operations (after a similar rescue job at the Willys car company). In
late 1923 production of the Chalmers automobile was ended. In January 1924,
Walter Chrysler launched the well-received Chrysler automobile (below). The
Chrysler was a 6-cylinder automobile, designed to provide customers with an
advanced, well-engineered car, but at a more affordable price

‘’D-DAY’’ BEGAN ON THIS DATE IN 1944

The Normandy landings, also known as Operation Neptune or D-Day was the
Allied invasion of Normandy during World War ll. The operation was the largest amphibious invasion in world history, with over 160,000 landing troops, 195,700
Allied naval and merchant navy personnel in over 5,000 ships were involved.The landings took place along a 50-mile stretch of the Normandy coast divided into
five sectors: Utah, Omaha,Gold, Juno and Sward. The operation ended on 30
June 1944.
