ANNE FRANK WAS BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1929
Annelies Marie “Anne” Frank is one of the most renowned and widely discussed
victims of the Jewish Holocaust. She gained international fame posthumously
following the publication of her diary, which documents her experiences hiding
during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War ll. Acknowledged
for the quality of her writing, her diary has become one of the world’s most widely
read books, and has been the basis for several plays and films. Anne died of
typhus in a concentration camp in early March of 1945. She was only 15.

‘’CLEOPATRA’’ PREMIERED ON THIS DATE IN 1963
“Cleopatra” premiered at the Rivoli Theater in New York city and despite being a
critical failure, it won four Academy Awards and was nominated for five more. It was
the highest grossing film of 1963, earning a total of $57.7 million, yet made a loss
due to its cost of $44 million, the only film ever to be the highest grossing film
of the year yet to run at a loss.
