Christina Ann "Kristy" McNichol  was best known for her roles as Leticia
“Buddy” Lawrence on the ABC television drama series Family and as
Barbara Weston on the NBC-TV sitcom Empty Nest. She is also the
sister of former child actor Jimmy McNichol. Kristy retired from acting 
when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1992.

The Colgate Comedy Hour was a comedy variety series that ran on NBC-TV
from September 1950 to December 1955, Sundays at 8:00 p.m. For the first 
year the show was broadcast from New York. Stars of the show were mostly
veterans of vaudeville, Broadway, radio, or movies, who took turns hosting,
in four or five week cycles. In the first few seasons, those most frequently
seen were Eddie Cantor (above), who was the first host, Dean Martin and
Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Fred Allen, Abbott & Costello, Donald O’Connor,
and Jimmy Durante. The Colgate Comedy Hour was truly one of the
bright spots of early television.

Clifford Parker "Cliff" Robertson, III had a film and television career that
spanned half of a century. Robertson won the 1968 Academy Award for
Best Actor for his role in the movie Charly. His most recent notable film
role was "Uncle Ben Parker” in the Spider-Man series. According to the 
Associated Press, his secretary of 53 years, Evelyn Christel, said he
died of natural causes a day after his 88th birthday Friday.

The Popeye radio program was broadcast over three different networks by two
sponsors from 1935 to 1938. Wheatena hot cereal first sponsored the show on
September 10, 1935 thru March 28, 1936. A total of 87 episodes aired on the
NBC Red Network on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights at 7:15pm. The 
show followed Amos & Andy, one of the most listened to programs in radio
history. Popeye the Sailor starred Detmar Poppen as Popeye along with
most of the major supporting characters,Olive Oyl (Olive Lamoy), Wimpy
(Charles Lawrence), Bluto (Jackson Beck) and Swee’Pea (Mae Questel).

Arnold Daniel Palmer is a professional golfer, generally regarded as one of the
greatest players in the history of men’s professional golf. He has won numerous
events on both the PGA and Champions Tour, dating back to 1955. He is one of
golf’s most popular stars and its most important trailblazer of the sport’s television
age, which began in the 1950s. He is part of "The Big Three" in golf, along with
Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who are widely credited with popularizing the
sport around the world. Palmer won the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement
Award in 1998, and in 1974 he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
