JFK’S FUNERAL WAS ON THIS DAY IN 1963
Three year old “John-John” salutes the passing casket of his father
On the Sunday (Nov. 24th) after the assassination, President Kennedy’s coffin
was carried on a horse-drawn caisson to the U.S. Capitol to lie in state. During
the day and night, hundreds of thousands lined up to view the guarded casket.
The riderless (Caparisoned) horse wearing the cavalry saddle, the sword and
backwards boots in the stirrups, symbolizing the end of Kennedy’s tenure.
