MAGAZINE FIRST SOLD ON THIS DAY IN 1883
Ladies’ Home Journal magazine first appeared on February 16, 1883. It soon
became one of the leading women’s magazines of the 20th century. It was the
first American magazine to reach 1 million subscribers in 1907. The magazines
looked more like newspapers at the time and a year’s subscription cost was
50 cents.
THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW ON THIS DAY IN 1964
The Beatles’ second appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show was
broadcast from The Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
STAR TREK EPISODE AIRED ON THIS DAY IN 1967
“Space Seed” is a first-season episode (#24) of Star Trek: The Original Series,
that was first broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 1967. It introduced the popular
villain Khan Noonien Singh, played Ricardo Montalbán. The 1982 film Star Trek ll:
The Wrath of Khan serves as a sequel to this episode.
