        Arthur Fiedler (December 17, 1894 – July 10, 1979)  

Fiedler  conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra for over 50 years. The
orchestra was said to have made more recordings than any other in
the world.

FIRST ARTIST TO PLAY THE ASTRODOME

The first artist to play the Astrodome after it’s opening on April 9, 1965,
was Judy Garland. She was paid $43,000 for the one 40 minute evening
show on December 17. The Supremes were her opening act. The dome
seated 48,000, with another 12,000 seats added for this show.

COUNTRY LEGEND HAS DIED AT 87

(January 12, 1926 – December 16, 2013)

On December 2, 2013, Price entered a Tyler, Texas, hospital in the final
stages of pancreatic cancer, according to his son, then left on December
12 for home hospice care. He died at his home on Monday.

"For the Good Times" is a 1970 song written by Kris Kristofferson. It
was awarded “Song of the Year” by the Academy of
 Country Music
and was Price’s fifth #1 single and spent a total of nineteen weeks
on
the country chart. “For the Good Times” crossed over to the pop
chart at number eleven. It became Ray Price’s only release to hit the
Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
