‘’THE SCHONZ’’ IS 86

 


Sportscaster Bill Schonely was the play-by-play announcer tor the
Portland Trail Blazers basketball team for almost three decades. He
began with the teams launch in 1970 and his final year behind the mike
was in 1998.
 

In 2002, Schonely was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame for Broadcasting. In 2012, he was awarded the Curt Gowdy Media Award
from the Basketball Hall of Fame. The voice of the Trail Blazers turned
86 on Monday June 1st.

JERRY MATHERS IS 67 TODAY


Gerald Patrick "Jerry" Mathers was born in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mathers is best known for his role as a child on the CBS/ABC television show,
“Leave It To Beaver” from 1957-1963. He made his first commercial at age 2
for PET Milk and was a model for a department store ad at the young age as
well. Jerry Mathers later became a successful banker and real estate investor.


In 1981, Mathers worked as a disc jockey at KEZY-AM radio in
Anaheim, California.

SINGER PAT BOONE IS 81 TODAY

 

 

Charles Eugene "Pat" Boone was born in Jacksonville, Florida.

Singer, actor, and writer Pat Boone was a successful pop singer during
the 1950s and early 1960s. He sold over 45 million albums, had 38 Top
40 hits and appeared in more than 12 Hollywood movies.

According to Billboard, Boone was the second biggest charting artist of
the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley. He attended three colleges
before graduating.



"Moody River" is a number-one Billboard Hot 100 song from June
of 1961.

BETSY PALMER HAS DIED AT 88

(November 1, 1926 – May 29, 2015)

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Betsy Palmer, the veteran character actress who
achieved lasting fame as the murderous camp cook in the 1980 horror
film "Friday the 13th," has died.
 

According to her manager, Palmer died Friday of natural causes at a
hospice care center in Connecticut. She had also appeared in films,
on Broadway and in TV shows such as the CBS game show “I’ve Got a
Secret” where she was a regular panelist.
