SINGLE RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1957

The song “Jailhouse Rock” was recorded at Radio Recorders in Hollywood,
California and was released on September 24, 1957, to coincide with the
release of Presley’s motion picture,Jailhouse Rock. It is #67 on Rolling
Stone
s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and was named one
of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and
Roll
. In 2004 , it finished at #21 on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs survey

Cloris Leachman was born in
Des Moines, Iowa.

Actress who won over seven Emmy Awards and played the role of
neighbor Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show on CBS
from 1970 to 1977. She represented Illinois in the Miss America
competition and began her acting career shortly after.

ABC’s Wide World of Sports is a sports anthology television series that
aired on the American Broadcasting Company from April 29, 1961 to
January 3, 1998, primarily on Saturday afternoons. Hosted by Jim McKay,
with a succession of co-hosts beginning in 1987, the title continued to be
used for general sports programs on the network until 2006. In 2007, Wide
World of Sports
was named by Time Magazine on its list of the 100 best
television programs of all-time.
