RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1959

The song "Shout" was written and sung by The Isley brothers
themselves as a call and response answer to Jackie Wilson‘s
"
Lonely Teardrops", which they would occasionally cover in
live performances. While the song did not reach higher than
#47 on the Billboard Hot 100
, it became their first gold single
on the basis of its longevity and became a much-covered
tune, with many U.S. and international artists recording the
song.

Neil Alden Armstrong
(August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) He was
born in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

Neil Armstrong was a astronaut, aerospace engineer, test pilot, and professor
who became the first person to set foot on the moon on July 21, 1969. He spent
8 days, 14 hours, 12 minutes, and 30 seconds in space. He took his first flight
at the age of six, when he and his father took a ride in a Ford Trimotor plane
in Warren, Ohio.

CHARACTER ACTOR HAS DIED AT 85


David William Huddleston (September 17, 1930 – August 2, 2016)

LOS ANGELES (AP) –  David Huddleston, a character actor best known for
portraying titular roles in "The Big Lebowski" and "Santa Claus: The Movie,"
has died.

Huddleston’s wife, Sarah C. Koeppe, said he died Tuesday of advanced heart
and kidney disease in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Huddleston famously portrayed the blustery millionaire whose identity Jeff
Bridges’ character is mistaken for in the 1998 cult comedy film "The Big
Lebowski."

Other credits in his 55-year-long career include the films "Blazing Saddles,"
”The Producers" and "Santa Claus: The Movie," as well as such TV series
as "The West Wing," ”Gilmore Girls" and "The Wonder Years."

Huddleston was born in 1930 in Vinton, Virginia. He served as an aircraft
engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force before studying acting in New York.

"Jeff" Gordon was born in Vallejo, California
.

Jef Gordon is a semi-retired professional stock car racing driver
and currently an announcer for Fox NASCAR. He formerly drove
the No. 24 Chevrolet
for Hendrick Motorsports in 23 full-time
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series seasons between 1993 and 2015,
and currently serves as a substitute driver for
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
in the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

Gordon won his first of many WInston Cup Championships in
1995 and his first Daytona 500 in 1997 becoming one of the
most successful race car drivers in the history of the sport.

He began racing quarter midgets when he was five and when
he got to his teens, his family believed in him enough to move
from California to Indiana to help further his racing career.

He is the first driver to reach $100 million in career earnings
in the Cup series.
