The TV sitcom My Favorite Martian aired on CBS from September 29, 1963, to May 1, 1966, for 107 episodes (75 in black and white: 1963–65, 32 color: 1965–66). The show starred Ray Walston as Uncle Martin (the Martian) and Bill Bixby as Tim O’Hara.
The musical My Fair Lady premiered on Broadway March 15, 1956, at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York City. It transferred to the Broadhurst Theatre and then The Broadway Theatre, where it closed after 2,717 performances. A 6 1/2 year run on Broadway. The show, at the time, held the record for the longest- running musical.
Howard Green Duff(November 24, 1913 – July 8, 1990)
The radio series The Adventures of Sam Spade, Detective was created by writer Dashiell Hammett for The Maltese Falcon. The show ran for 13 episodes on ABC in 1946, for 157 episodes on CBS in 1946-1949, and finally for 51 episodes on NBC in 1949- 1951. The series starred Howard Duff (and later, Steve Dunne) as Sam Spade and Lurene Tuttle as his secretary Effie, and took a considerably more tongue-in-cheek approach to the character than the novel or movie. The announcer was Dick Joy (below).
Jerry Lee Lewis (The Killer) is 81 years old today.
Lewis was expelled from Southwest Bible Institute for playing what they termed "devil’s music." He played music in Natchez, Mississippi to make a living. Jerry Lee Lewis has been described as "rock & roll’s first great wild man and is the last living member of the Sun Records Million Dollar Quartet (below).
