TWIGGY IS 68 YEARS YOUNG TODAY

Twiggy (Lesley Hornby)

English fashion model Twiggy is known for her very thin look during the
1960s. She popularized the ‘bob’ haircut and heavy eye make up. After
modelling, Twiggy enjoyed a successful career as a screen, stage, and
television actress. Her role in The Boy Friend (1971) brought her two
Golden Globe Awards. She has hosted her own series Twiggy’s People,
in which she interviewed celebrities.

The situation comedy The Monkees
aired on the NBC television network 
from September 12, 1966 to March 25, 1968. The series was sponsored
on alternate weeks by Kellogg’s Cereals and Yardley of London. The
Monkees
won two Emmy Awards in 1967: Outstanding Comedy Series
and Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy (James Frawley
).

Saying goodbye to Michael Nesmith at the Hollywood Pantages Theater in Los
Angeles, CA. Nesmith played with Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, the two other
surviving members, on the same stage for the very last time as The Monkees.

Latin pop singer Gloria Estefan has sold more than one hundred million records
over the course of her career. She has released many #1 hits, including "Don’t
Wanna Lose You." She once worked with the Miami International Airport Customs Department while in college. She was approached by the CIA for the job because
of her prowess with language. Gloria has won seven Grammy Awards, including
one for Best Tropical Latin Album in 1993 for Mi Tierra.

Jay Thomas (Jon Thomas Terrell)
  (July 12, 1948 – August 24, 2017)

Jay Thomas, was an actor, comedian, and radio talk show host. He was heard in
New York in the mid-1970s and in Los Angeles beginning in 1986 on KPWR "Power
106", where he hosted the station’s top-rated morning show until 1993. His notable television work included his co-starring role as Remo DaVinci on ABC’s Mork &
Mindy
(1979–81), the recurring role of Eddie LeBec on NBC’s Cheers (1987–89), 
and a repeat guest role as Jerry Gold on Murphy Brown (CBS). He won the
Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 1990
and 1991 for portraying Gold. Thomas had been battling cancer. His wife, Sally,
and his sons, Sam, Jake, and J.T., were by his side when he died yesterday.

Attractions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
