Annie Oakley is a Western television series that fictionalizes the life
of the famous
Annie Oakley. (Except for depicting the protagonist
as a phenomenal
sharpshooter of the period, the program entirely
ignores the facts of the historical Oakley’s life.) Featuring actress
Gail Davis in the title role, the weekly program ran from January
1954 to February 1957 in
syndication. A total of 81 black-and-white
episodes were produced, with each installment running 25 minutes
in length.
ABC aired daytime reruns of the series on Saturdays and
Sundays from 1959 to 1960 and then again from 1964 to 1965.

FIRST CANNED BEER ON THIS DAY IN 1935

See the source image

Canned beer made its debut on January 24, 1935. In partnership
with the American Can Company, the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company delivered 2,000 cans of Krueger’s Finest Beer and
Krueger’s Cream Ale to faithful Krueger drinkers in Richmond,
Virginia. Ninety-one percent of the drinkers approved of the
canned beer, driving Krueger to give the green light to further production.

The purchase of cans, unlike bottles, did not require the consumer
to pay a deposit. Cans were also easier to stack, more durable
and took less time to chill. As a result, their popularity continued
to grow throughout the 1930s, and then exploded during
World
War II
, when U.S. brewers shipped millions of cans of beer to
soldiers overseas.

FACTS ABOUT THE COCA-COLA SANTA CLAUS

My hat's off to the pause that refreshes 1931

Although many credit our modern day Santa to Thomas Nast,
Santa’s jolly look all started in 1931 with legendary illustrator
Haddon Sundblom for a Coca-Cola holiday ad campaign. His
Santa has become one of the most beloved cultural icons and
an anticipated part of the Christmas holiday tradition.
