“Flowers and Trees” was the first Academy Award winning cartoon and the first
cartoon short to use Technicolor.
THE ‘IT’ GIRL WAS BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1905
Clara Gordon Bow (July 29, 1905 – September 27, 1965)
Actress Clara Bow rose to stardom in silent films during the 1920s. She
came to personify the Roaring Twenties and is described as its leading
sex symbol.
She appeared in 46 silent films and 11 talkies, including hits such as
Mantrap (1926), It (1927) and Wings (1927). At the high point of her
career, she received more than 45,000 fan letters during the month
of January 1929.
Bow retired from acting and became a rancher in Nevada. Her final
film, Hoop-La, was released in 1933. In September 1965, Bow died
of a heart attack at the age of 60.

REMEMBERING WALTER BRENNAN
Walter Brennan (July 25, 1894 – September 21, 1974)
Brennan is one of three men to win three Oscars, having won the
Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor on three occasions
between 1936 and 1940. He is best known for playing Grandpa
McCoy on The Real McCoys, ABC/CBS 1957-1963).
