LOS ANGELES (AP) Jackie Cooper, the former child movie star who
won a best actor Oscar nomination at the age of 9 for “Skippy” and
grew up to play The Daily Planet editor in Christopher Reeve’s four
“Superman” movies, has died. His son John Cooper said his father
died Tuesday of natural cause at a nursing facility in Santa Monica,
California. He was 88.

Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for “fifth of May” and is a Mexican civic holiday that commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of
Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and the
United States.
VISTA HOUSE DEDICATED ON THIS DATE IN 1918
The Crown Point Vista House is located approximately 15 miles east of Portland on
the Columbia River Highway. The groundbreaking for the pioneer memorial view point was in 1916 and the project was completed in 1918 with a dedication ceremony on May 5, 1918 (pictured above). Portland’s Royal Rosarians can be seen dressed in white.

CHILD ACTOR TINA YOTHERS IS 38 TODAY
Kristina Louise "Tina" Yothers was a child actor since the age of 8, she is best
known for her role as Jennifer Keaton on the hit NBC-TV sitcom series Family Ties
(1982 – 1989). Tina has had roles in numerous television films throughout the 1980s
and early 1990s including Crash Course (1988).
