Where the Action Is or (WTAI) was a music-based television variety show
on ABC that aired weekday afternoons in black and white from Tuesday,
June 27, 1965 to March 31, 1967. It was created by Dick Clark as a spin-
off of American Bandstand. The program had its own group of performers,
most notably Paul Revere & the Raiders, who served as the house band
until 1966. The show’s theme song, “Action”, became a hit single for
Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon.
