CBS founder William S. Paley

The Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) evolved from United Independent Broadcasters Inc., a group of 16 radio stations bought by William S. Paley in
1928. Under his leadership, the radio network became one of the largest in
the United States.

The single “Walk Right In” by the folk trio The Rooftop Singers spent
two weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, five weeks atop the
Easy Listening chart, peaked at #4 on the R&B chart and went to
#23 on the country music chart. The group formally disbanded in
1967.
