A DISNEY DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1937

Walt Disney debuted “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, the first, full-length,
animated feature at the Carthay Theatre in Hollywood, CA. A nationwide release
followed on February 4, 1938.

With international earnings of $8 million during its initial release briefly assumed
the record of highest grossing sound film at the time.

Irene Marie Dunn, born in Louisville, Kentucky 
    (December 20, 1898 – September 4, 1990)

Irene Dunne was a film actress and singer of the 1930s, 1940s and early
1950s. She was nominated five times for the Academy Award for Best
Actress
, for her performances in Cimarron (1931), Theodora Goes Wild
(1936), The Awful Truth (1937), Love Affair (1939) and I Remember
Mama
(1948). Dunne was named to the International Best Dressed
List
Hall of Fame in 1958. The actress played piano at an early age
and hoped to become an opera singer.
