Robert Downey Jr. was born in Manhattan, New York.

for his role in Ally McBeal in 2000 and another award for Best Actor for his
his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in 2009. He has also starred in such films
as Zodiac (2007),Tropic Thunder (2008), and Chaplin (1992). He began
acting at the age of five when he played a puppy in the 1970 film Pound,
which was directed by his father Robert Downey, Sr.
