CARTOON STAR DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1934

Donald Duck rose to fame with his comedic roles in animated cartoons. Donald’s
first appearance was in 1934 in The Wise Little Hen.

Donald is one of the most popular Disney characters and was included in TV
Guide
‘s list of the 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time in 2002. He has
appeared in more films than any other Disney character, and is the most
published comic book character in the world outside of the superhero genre.

MARY ELLEN TRAINOR HAS DIED AT 62

Mary Ellen Trainor  (July 8, 1952 – May 20, 2015)

Trainor is best remembered as either Dr. Stephanie Woods
(a LAPD psychiatrist) in Lethal Weapon (1987) (and all three
sequels) or as Irene Walsh (Mikey and Brand’s mom) in The
Goonies
(1985). The actress died at her home in Montecito,
California
from complications of pancreatic cancer.

SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1947

The Lassie radio show was broadcast from 1947-1950. It first aired
on ABC, then on NBC. Lassie played a different dog each week in
different kinds of situations. The shows ran for 15 minutes. The
series was sponsored by Red Heart dog food.
