The Robe is a 1942 historical novel about the Crucifixion of Jesus written by
Lloyd C. Douglas. The book was one of the best-selling titles of the 1940s
entered the New York Times Best Seller list in October 1942, and within
four weeks rose to number-one. It held the position for nearly a year.
Douglas sold the motion picture rights to his book, though the film,
starring Richard Burton, was not released until 1953, several years
after Douglas’s death.

The story of baby Jessica gained worldwide attention and later became the
subject of a 1989 television movie Everybody’s Baby: The Rescue of Jessica
McClure on ABC. As presented in it, a vital part of the rescue was the use of
the then relatively new technology of water jet cutting.
Angela Brigid Lansbury was born in London, England.
Lansbury is a Golden Globe-winning actress who played Jessica Fletcher
on the Murder, She Wrote series on CBS-TV (1984-1996). She also gained
recognition for her role in the Broadway musical Mame (1966) and provided
the voice of the teapot Mrs. Potts in the 1991 animated film Beauty and the
Beast. Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 1945
film The Picture of Dorian Gray.
