Morley Safer (November 8, 1931 – May 19, 2016)
The Canadian born “60 Minutes” correspondent retired just a week
ago after 52 years at CBS television. He was the longest-serving
reporter on “60 Minutes”, winning 12 Emmy Awards. Safer died this
morning in his Manhattan home.
Peter Dennis Blandford "Pete" Townshend is 71 years old today.
Townshend had plans to become a graphic artist before his music career
took off. His grandmother bought him his first guitar in 1956. After having
a spiritual awakening and becoming a disciple of Indian spiritual master
Meher Baba, Pete Townshend was one of very few rock stars who was
strongly opposed the use of psychedelic drugs.
The song “One of These Nights” is title track from an album by The Eagles. It
became their second single to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart after "Best
of My Love" and also helped propel the album to number one. The song
was written by Don Henley and the late Glenn Frey.
Glenn Lewis Frey (November 6, 1948 – January 18, 2016)
