ROCKWELL’S FIRST COVER FOR THE POST

On this day in 1916, a 22-year-old Norman Rockwell painted his
first cover for
The Saturday Evening Post. The original oil on
canvas painting is titled Boy with Baby Carriage. Over the next
47 years, the artist would paint over 300 covers for the magazine.

Cher has sold over 100 million records and won Billboard’s Artist of the
Year Award in 2002. She was put into foster care when her parents were
stricken with poverty. She later gained fame as a member of the singing
duo Sonny and Cher with Sonny Bono.

NEWSMAN MORLEY SAFER HAS DIED AT 84


Morley Safer (November 8, 1931 – May 19, 2016)

The Canadian born “60 Minutes” correspondent retired just a week
ago after 52 years at CBS television. He was the longest-serving
reporter on “60 Minutes”, winning 12 Emmy Awards. Safer died this
morning in his Manhattan home.
