Patriotic Front rebel group and government soldiers. Hundreds
of thousands were slaughtered in the months that followed.

Billie Holiday (Eleanora Fagan) (April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959)

Holiday, was a jazz musician and singer-songwriter with a career
spanning nearly thirty years. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend
and music partner Lester Young, she had a huge influence on jazz
music and pop singing.

On this day in 1987, "Les Miserables" opened on Broadway.

The Broadway production opened ran until 18 May 2003, closing after
6,680 performances. It is the fifth longest-running Broadway show in
history and was the second-longest at the time. The production was
nominated for 12 Tony Awards and won eight, including Best Musical
and Best Original Score.
