DR. KEVORKIAN IS DEAD AT 83!
Dr. Jack Kevorkian poses with his “suicide machine”
(Fox)__Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the Michigan pathologist who championed
physician-assisted suicides, died early Friday after being hospitalized
with kidney problems and pneumonia.
The 83-year-old Kevorkian, who said he helped some 130 people end
their lives from 1990 to 1999, died about 2:30 a.m. at William Beaumont
Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., close friend and attorney Mayer Morganroth
said.
An official cause of death had not been determined, but Morganroth said
it likely will be pulmonary thrombosis.
FIRST U.S. SPACEWALK ON THIS DATE IN 1965
Edward H. White (above) made the United States’ first spacewalk during
the Gemini 4 mission. It was on the third orbit when White opened his
hatch and used the hand-held maneuvering oxygen-jet gun to push
himself out of the capsule. The EVA started over the Pacific Ocean
near Hawaii and lasted 23 minutes, ending over the Gulf of Mexico.
