King grew up with his grandmother because his mother was too poor to
take care of him. His mother’s cousin, Bukka White, gave him his first
guitar.
James Franklin "Jimmy" O’Neill (January 8, 1940 – January 11, 2013)
The musical variety series Shindig! aired on ABC from September 16, 1964
to January 8, 1966. The show was hosted by Jimmy O’Neill, a disc jockey in
Los Angeles at the time who also created the show along with his wife Sharon
Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz. Many popular performers of the
day appeared on the show.
The song "Georgia on My Mind" was originally recorded by Hoagy
Carmichael and is often associated now with the popular version
by Ray Charles, a native of Georgia, who recorded it in 1960. It
became the official state song of Georgia in 1979.

William Oliver Stone is 70 years old today.
As a teenager, Stone worked in the French Financial
Exchange. He then went into the Army and served in
Vietnam from June 1965 to 1968.His 1991 film JFK led
to Congress passing the Assassination Materials
Disclosure Act of 1992, which ended the secrecy
surrounding John F. Kennedy‘s assassination.
