James Anthony Piersall  (November 14, 1929 – June 3, 2017)

(AP) – Former major leaguer Jim Piersall, who bared his soul about his struggles
with mental illness in his book "Fear Strikes Out," has died.

According to the Boston Red Sox, Piersall died Saturday at a care facility in
Wheaton, Illinois, after a month long illness. Piersall played for seven of his
17 seasons in the majors with the Red Sox.

Jefferson Finis Davis
(June 3, 1808 – December 6, 1889)

Jefferson Davis was President of the Confederate
States of America from its beginning in 1861 to its
collapse in 1865. His 1881 memoir The Rise and
Fall of the Confederate Government helped restore
his reputation after the war and he is now an icon
and symbol of pride for many Southerners.
