John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy

Commonly referred to by his initials JFK, John F. Kennedy 
was a politician who served as the 35th President of the
United States from January 1961 until his assassination 
in November 1963.

Stamp Act before Virginia‘s House of Burgesses.

Today, churchgoers still attend services at St. John’s
Episcopal Church in Richmond, Va., where Patrick

Leslie Townes "Bob" Hope  (May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003)

Legendary vaudeville comedian, radio personality, and actor Bob
Hope entertained military personnel in 57 USO tours between 1942
and 1988. He performed hundreds of acts with his special humor
per year during the height of his career, hosted The Academy
Awards fourteen times, and appeared in over 70 films and shorts.

At a young age, he began performing for voluntary donations on the
Luna Park streetcar by singing and making jokes. In 1915 Bob Hope
won an amateur talent contest for his Charlie Chaplin impersonation.    

In 1997, the U.S. Congress declared Bob Hope the "first and only
honorary veteran of the U.S. armed forces."

Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969)

President Dwight D. Eisenhower (above) coins one of the most
famous Cold War phrases when he suggests the fall of French
Indochina to the communists could create a “domino” effect in Southeast Asia. The so-called “domino theory” dominated U.S.
thinking about Vietnam for the next decade.

On this day in 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his last speech
just 24 hours before he was assassinated. He spoke on… "I’ve Been
To The Mountaintop”.

On this day in 1936, Richard Bruno Hauptmann was executed for
the kidnapping and death of the son of famous aviator Charles
Lindbergh and his wife Anne.

President Harry Truman signed the Marshall Plan to revive war-torn Europe on this day in 1948. It was $5 billion in aid for 16 countries.

On this day in 1882, the outlaw Jesse James was shot in the
back and killed by Robert Ford for a $5,000 reward. There
was later controversy over whether it was actually Jesse
James that had been killed.

The first Pony Express riders left St. Joseph, MO for Sacramento,
CA. on this day in 1860. The trip across country took about 10
days. The Pony Express only lasted about a year and a half.

Marlon Brando Jr. (April 3, 1924 – July 1, 2004) He was born
in Omaha, Nebraska.

Marlon Brando portrayed powerful characters such as Don Vito in The
Godfather (1972), Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront (1954), and Colonel
Kurtz in Apocalypse Now (1979). His performances in A Streetcar Named
Desire (1951) earned him additional acclaim.
