Actor Clayton Moore was best known for playing the fictional western character
The Lone Ranger from 1949–1951 and 1954-1957. Moore had a pay dispute
and left the series. As "Clay Moore," he made a few more westerns and serials, sometimes playing the villain. Moore was replaced for a time by actor John
Hart. The show’s producers eventually came to terms and rehired Moore.The
Lone
Ranger was the highest-rated television program on ABC in the early
1950s.

‘’THE WALTONS’’ DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1972

The Waltons is a CBS television series created by Earl Hamner, Jr. It was
based on his book titled Spencer’s Mountain, and on a 1963 film of the
same name. The show originally aired from September 14, 1972 to June
4, 1981. After the series went off the air, three TV movie sequels were
broadcast in 1982 and three more followed in the 1990s.

Joey Heatherton is a actress, dancer, and singer. She began
her career as a child actress, appearing in 1959 as a member
of the ensemble and an understudy in the original Broadway
production of The Sound of Music. Joey received her first
national exposure that same year as a semi-regular on the
The Perry Como Show on NBC-TV from 1955 to 1959. She
also traveled with Bob Hope’s USO troupe between 1965
and 1977, entertaining the GIs with her singing, dancing
and of course, her provocative outfits.

Margaret Chase Smith (December 14, 1897 – May 29, 1995) was a Republican
Senator from Maine. She was elected to the U.S. Senate on September 13, 1948,
making her the first woman to be elected to both houses of Congress, and the
first woman to have her name placed in nomination for President by a major
political party, at the 1964 Republican convention. When Smith left office in
1973, she had the record as the longest-serving female senator in U.S.
history, ranking 11th in seniority.
