SONG RECORDED ON THIS DAY IN 1942

The song ‘Juke Box Saturday Night’ is more notable as the last Top Ten
hit issued by Glenn Miller as a civilian performer. In September of 1942,
Miller enlisted in the war effort and was transferred from the Army to the
Army Air Corps.

When Beach Party hit screens it was a huge success with the first five-day grosses
reportedly well ahead its competition, which consisted of the popular currently
running major studio films Hud, Tammy and the Doctor, The Nutty Professor
and The Birds. Beach Party was the first of the five American-International
