Drew Blythe Barrymore was born in Culver City, California.

Drew Barrymore gained fame as a child actress in Steven Spielberg‘s
film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). She won a Screen Actors Guild
Award in 2010 for her portrayal of Little Edie in Grey Gardens. Drew
made her directorial debut with the 2009 film Whip It!

Andy Warhol (Andrew Warhola)
(August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987)

Warhol died in Manhattan at 6:32 a.m. on February 22, 1987
at age 58. According to news reports, he had been making
a good recovery from gallbladder surgery at New York
Hospital before dying in his sleep from a sudden post-
operative irregular heartbeat.

During World War II on this day in 1943, the battle of Guadalcanal
ended with an American victory over Japanese forces.

Alice Malsenior Walker is 74 today. She was born in Putnam County, Georgia.

Alice Walker is an American novelist, short story writer, poet, and activist
who wrote the novel The Color Purple (1982) for which she won the National
Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She also wrote the novels
Meridian (1976) and The Third Life of Grange Copeland (1970), among many
other works.

American silent epic drama film directed and co-produced by D.
W. Griffith and starring Lillian Gish. The screenplay is adapted
from the novel and play The Clansman, both by Thomas Dixon
Jr. Griffith co-wrote the screenplay (with Frank E. Woods), and
co-produced the film (with Harry Aitken). The film premiered on
this day in 1915.

James Byron Dean  (February 8, 1931 – September 30, 1955)

Actor James Dean starred in “Rebel Without a Cause” and “East of

multiple posthumous acting nominations.
