Introducing… The Beatles is the first Beatles album released in the United States. Originally scheduled for a July 1963 release, the LP
came out on 10 January 1964, on Vee-Jay Records, ten days before Capitol‘s Meet the Beatles!. The latter album, however, entered the
U.S. album chart one week before the former. Consequently, when
Meet The Beatles! peaked at #1 for eleven consecutive weeks, Introducing…The Beatles stalled at #2 where it remained nine consecutive weeks. It was the subject of much legal wrangling,
but ultimately, Vee-Jay was permitted to sell the album until late
1964, by which time it had sold more than 1.3 million copies. On 24
July 2014 the album was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA.

(FoxNews) – Wanda Young, best known as a member of Motown’s
popular and chart-topping The Marvelettes, has died. She was 78.

Meta Ventress, Young’s daughter, told the New York Times that
her mother died on Dec. 15 in Garden City, Mich. She told the
outlet that the cause of the singers death had to do with
complications due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

having sold more than 90 million records worldwide. His genre-
spanning music embraced country, rock and roll, rockabilly,
blues, folk, and gospel sounds. This crossover appeal earned
him the rare honor of being inducted into the Country Music,
Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame. His music
career was dramatized in the 2005 biopic Walk the Line. A
trademark all-black stage wardrobe earned him the nickname
“The Man in Black”.
