NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1965

The Beatles attained their eighth Billboard number one hit with "Ticket
To Ride", the first song which Paul McCartney, not George Harrison,
was featured on lead guitar. It was ranked number 394 on Rolling
Stone
‘s list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".

FIRST CARTOON TO WIN A PULITZER PRIZE

On the Road to Moscow

The cartoon, "On the Road to Moscow," by Rollin Kirby (above) won a Pulitzer
Prize on this day in 1922. It was the first cartoon awarded the Pulitzer, an honor
that Kirby would receive three times.
