(September 15, 1890 – January 12, 1976) 

Christie was an English writer known for her 66 detective novels 
and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around 
around her fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.

The sitcom "All In the Family" debuted on CBS-TV on this day in 1971. It ran
for nine seasons till April 1979. The following September, it was replaced by
“Archie Bunker’s Place”, which picked up where “All in the Family” had
ended and ran for four more seasons.

Richard Milhous Nixon (January 9, 1913 – April 22, 1994)

Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, serving from
1969 until 1974, when he resigned from office, the only United
States president to do so.

Clifford Michael Irving (November 5, 1930 – December 19, 2017)

Surveyor 7 landed on the Moon on this day in 1968. It was the seventh and last lunar lander of the American unmanned Surveyor program sent to explore the surface of the Moon. A total of 21,091 pictures were transmitted to Earth.

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977)

Known as "The King of Rock n’ Roll," Elvis Presley rose to 
fame in the late 1950s, becoming a legendary presence in
cultural history and the best-selling solo artist in the history
of pop. He released such #1 singles as "Hound Dog," and
"Jailhouse Rock.”

It was during this address Johnson declared a "War on Poverty."

choose George Washington to be the first United States president.

George Washington accepted the wish of the American people for
him to be their first president. No one campaigned for the office.

United States President Bill Clinton went on trial before the Senate
on this day in 1999. It was only the second time in U.S. history that
an impeached president had gone to trial. Clinton was later
acquitted of perjury and obstruction of justice charges.
