(Fox News) – Living racing legend Richard Petty (above) is auctioning off a trove of trophies, memorabilia and even some of the cars from his 60- year NASCAR career.
They include a 1974 Dodge Charger that he won 31 races with, including the 1974 Daytona 500 (below).
The event is being organized by Julien’s Auctions and will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on May 12.

John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr.(February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968)
American author John Steinbeck is well-known for his novels The Grapes of Wrath, Eastof Eden, and Of Mice and Men. He won both the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes for his work. Steinbeck grew up in central California and attended Stanford University for several years. He later returned to California following failed attempts at writing jobs in New York and worked as a tour guide and caretaker at a fish hatchery in Tahoe City.
Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor (27 February 1932 – 23 March 2011)
Better known as Liz Taylor, she was a glamorous movie actress who starred in numerous films during Hollywood’s Golden Age. She was in 11 films with Richard Burton, including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966). She made her motion picture debut at the age of nine in Universal’s There’s OneBorn Every Minute (1942).
