William Holden (William Franklin Beedle Jr.)

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s autopsy
report, Holden was alone and intoxicated in his apartment
in Santa Monica, California, on November 12, 1981, when
he slipped on a rug, severely lacerating his forehead on a 
bedside table, and bled to death. His body was found four
days later on this day in 1981.

American writer and Nobel Prize laureate William Faulkner once stated

On this day in 1943, Leonard Bernstein made his debut with the
New York Philharmonic when he filled in for the ailing Bruno
Walter prior to a nationally broadcast concert. Bernstein was

Copland was an American composer, composition teacher, writer,
and later a conductor of his own and other music. He was referred
to by his peers and critics as "the Dean of American Composers."

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a song written and recorded originally by
Solomon Linda with the Evening Birds for the South African Gallo Record
Company in 1939, under the title "Mbube" (Zulu for “lion”). The song has
earned at least $15 million in royalties from cover versions and movie
licensing in the United States..
